Baseball Training ProgramBy thebaseballstore.net added on Tue, 16 Sep 2008A baseball training program is essential to have if you want your players to be the best they can be. There are many training programs on the market nowadays, many using some modern and advanced equipment. This expensive equipment is not necessary though and it has been proven that the most effective baseball training program is based on the basic exercises and workouts. Any equipment necessary is also simple and does not have to cost a fortune in order to serve its purpose of training baseball players. One item that is a must have in any baseball training program is a medicine ball. This is very affordable and every player can have their own to train with that is weighted to suit their capabilities and needs. A medicine ball can help train baseball players for a number of reasons and they are all good enough to make it an essential part of the daily workout routine that has many benefits. For one a medicine ball provides a highly efficient resistance training that can be used to target certain muscle groups and yet keeps the joints and muscles safe from injury. Proper training and practicing smooth movements will also prevent baseball related injuries that often happen during a game. A baseball training program that includes medicine ball exercises will also help the player to develop movements in all three planes that are possible. For a baseball player the medicine ball routine also improves flexibility which means that the twists necessary for playing baseball will come easier and faster. Regular training with a medicine ball will also give the player a chance to develop a better balance and be more stable when playing baseball, regardless of whether they are a pitcher or a batter. The medicine ball used in a baseball training program is ideally 2 to 4 pounds heavy. In no case should a ball heavier than four pounds be used, since the effects will be more negative than positive. Certain techniques should always be a part of any baseball training program since they players can work on the techniques necessary for the game. One exercise that is good for baseball players is called the chest pass, which works on initial speed and power when throwing or batting. The walking chest pass is a variation that includes walking into a throw. Other basic medicine ball exercises include the overhead pass and the scoop forward or backward.
